Amanda and Giles celebrated their marriage at the gorgeous West Tower, Clitheroe, in late April. They were lucky enough to be my ‘Win your Wedding Photography’ 2019 competition winners back in January of this year. It was a lovely day although we got caught by a sudden downpour of rain just as the Group photos were ending, que bridesmaids and aunties running for cover!
The couple met at Church camp many years before and have been together for 3 years before Giles proposed to Amanda in Fletcher Moss park in Manchester. Whilst he was trying to pluck up the courage to pop the question Amanda was more concerned about which takeaway they would order that night, a girl after my own heart! She obviously said yes.
Amanda got ready at her childhood home with her Mum and lovely bridesmaids one of whom was her sister and others close friends and family of the couple. Amanda’s mum had a mild obsession with Dalmatian dogs and I was met with a wonderful collection in each of the rooms, I even spotted a full size teddy in the front room waiting for Amanda to make an appearance in her dress!
Amanda wore a long sleeved simple but stunning lace dress which was purchased from Always & Forever Bridal Boutique in Liverpool. The dress was so delicate that Amanda had a ‘stunt dress’ to use for Bridal prep which I was able to take outside to get some detailed shots of. Amanda’s mum gave her a special silver bangle to wear on the day, but this was her borrowed as she had to give it straight back!
The ceremony took place at their local church that they attended regularly, this was incredibly important to both of them that they were married here . David who conducted the ceremony was also a close family friend and had known Amanda since she was small. The ceremony was small and intimate but was filled with close friends and family to watch them exchange their vows. The ceremony began with several beautiful readings from Giles Mum and a family friend, and finished with Amanda bursting into a fit of giggles just as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife! It was a moving, personal ceremony, full of so much love and nervous giggles.
After the ceremony, we travelled the short distance to West Tower for the reception and to get straight into the Group shots which was a good job really because it started to rain heavily just as we finished up. The rain didn’t last long which gave me chance to take the couple off for some portraits around the Hotel and the grounds.
West Tower in Clitheroe is a stunning hotel, it has such a lovely feel to it, especially in the gardens and the view where the sun goes down in the evening is amazing. Amanda & Giles chose to have flowers on the tables with other pieces they had collected over the months leading up to the wedding such as Candles, wooden logs and sweet jars as favours.
After the speeches, the weather was warm so most of the guests gathered on the patio for drinks before moving on the dancefloor as Amanda & Giles had their first dance. The DJ played all the best songs to get everyone dancing which gave me some cracking shots of their guests!
Loved every bit of their day, even getting lost on the way to the church and had a blast shooting Amanda & Giles’ special day. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
