When Cassie and Matthew first got in touch with me about their Summer wedding in Castleton, I was so excited to be shooting their special day – they were planning a romantic and stylish wedding with ALL of their family and friends! Cassie and Matthew are a really fun couple and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding.
The excitement before the serious bit
I began the day at The Lodge which is part of the Royal Toby Hotel, where Cassie, her Mum and all her Bridesmaids has stayed the night before It was really chilled as the girls had been getting their hair and make up done all morning already. We even had time to take some fun images Cassie wanted with her girls before everyone was in their dresses. Matthew had sent over a box of cupcakes in the morning which spelt out ‘I love you’ although most had been eaten when I got there ha! I’m sure they were enjoyed with a few glasses of bubbly after breakfast.
I got to meet up with Matthew and both his best men before the ceremony in the Hotel bar where he was persuaded to pull his first pint of real ale! Its not as easy as it looks, it had a lot of head!
The serious, but not too serious bit
The wedding took place in The Rhyddings suite, and was filled with the most incredible coral coloured flowers, you could smell them as soon as you got to the door! They lined the aisle down to the starlight backdrop at the front of the ceremony room where they would take their vows.
Cassie & Matthew’s 2 Son’s came down the aisle first and totally stole the show. They were as excited as Dad I reckon! Their ceremony was filled with laughs and smiles between the 2 with their eldest as ring bearer and closely watched Daddy putting Mummy’s ring on. After the ceremony they were showered with confetti, before managing to organise 110 guests for groups shots and then we went and did some beautiful portraits of just the 2 of them.
As they married in late August the weather was amazing and I captured some beautiful portraits of the newly weds. This is a great time in the day for couples just to have a breather and 20 minutes alone away from guests to just take it all in. Cassie and Matthew were really relaxed in the front of the camera and I don’t think I stopped laughing at Matthew’s jokes, they were a really fun couple who were incredibly in love, their portraits really captured this and the romance of the whole day.
The wedding reception took place in The Rhyddings suite again, which they’d decorated with the coral flowers from the ceremony and lace covered chairs. It was lovely and fit in with their day perfectly.
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was what the couple had hoped for so while the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails and the couple mingled while I took candids before heading back inside for their Wedding Breakfast. For the meal they had a roast dinner, and it was absolutely delicious as was the selection of mini desserts. It was all too much for their youngest Son who flaked out behind some tables!
After the meal they had some wonderfully funny speeches, before the guests got to enjoy some more the sun outside with drinks before the evening party got started. Before their first dance the couple cut their super sweet personalised Wedding cake that had a caricature figure of each of them and their boys. Both Cassie and Matthew had a Daughter/Father and Son/Mother dance, not many dry eyes in the house for those! It was lovely to see so many happy family members embracing the happy couple on the dance floor.
My favourite photo from the afternoon is when I took the couple back out after their Wedding Breakfast as the sun was setting, the light was stunning and I love the starburst silhouette I captured.
Cassie and Matthew met at School and have been together 9 years before tying the knot.
Cassie wore a stunning lace dress she purchased from Blush in Uppermill and carried a bouquet of stunning cream roses complete with a memory charm for her Nana who is no longer with them, A lovely touch to remember someone so close. Matthew wore a traditional morning suit in Navy blue, they both looked incredible.
They say if you’re planning a wedding, just enjoy every minute as its over before you know it.
